Success Stories
Bumba

Handicapped pets, pet dogs   “Bumba was a highly energetic, affectionate, and sociable mixed breed dog. Throughout her life, she appeared to derive great pleasure from taking long walks, chasing other dogs in the nearby park, and socializing with her many canine and human friends. When she was 9-years-old, Bumba started to show signs of weakness in her rear legs.

As the condition progressed (Degenerative Myelopathy), Bumba often stumbled and fell when she tried to walk. Nonetheless, she remained undaunted by her disability. She clearly wanted to lead the active life she had always led, but her hind legs weren’t cooperating.

The day Bumba’s cart arrived, her life began anew. She was back in action doing the things that gave her the greatest joy. She rambled about in her cart through grass, mud, snow, and sand without a hitch. Amazingly, she had no trouble answering nature’s call while simultaneously walking in her cart! Bumba’s cart gave her nine months of quality time she otherwise would not have had.” - Teresa Doyle

Isis

Two Wheel Cart, pet dogs   Isis was always a strong and determined dog. She had a zest and love for life that always has and continues to touch anyone who meets her. She was unique as far as today’s Rottweiler’s go; instead of being large, bulky, and laid back, she was small and athletic with a drive to die for. I needed an outlet for her energy and wisely chose the sport of agility.

She excelled in the sport, made a name for herself, and was a joy to watch (as well as work with) in the ring. We finally completed two elite titles in NADAC in March of 1998 and were looking forward to starting to accumulate championship points. But those points and the ultimate title were to never be realized. In April 1998, after competing in a trial, she started to experience rear limb weakness. Four days later she became totally paralyzed in her rear legs. Many tests were run on her, all coming back normal. The diagnosis was Fibrocartilagenous Emboli (spinal stroke). Her prognosis for recovery was poor. I immediately ordered the “wheelchair” from the Pet Mobility Rehab Center Company.

She took to the cart quickly, and now it’s almost like she was born in it. Despite the grim odds, she has regained some limited function, and the cart allows her to use her legs to her limits. We can go just about anywhere, which includes “four-wheeling” at Folsom Lake! She is happy, well adjusted, and will hopefully continue to improve. We love her cart!!!” - Patti Neelans

Montana

Canine carts,Handicapped pets   “We can’t thank you enough for sharing your most special invention with us! It has completely changed our life! Now Montana can stand, chase a squirrel, and sniff all the sniffs a pooch could want! We go for walks and everyone stops to ask questions. A string of bikers (motorcycle) passed us the other day and one smiled and gave us a “thumbs-up” sign – cars do the same!

One evening, we were walking with his brother, “Timberline”, and we came around a corner and sitting in a wheelchair was a young man. My boys immediately went up to him and the fellow gave us a startled look of surprise and said, “Hey dude, we have something in common”. He is an inspiration to many. We have been to see wheelchair bound senior citizens in a hospital and most often, arms reach out to pet my boys with smiling faces.”

Katie’s Story

Almost 8 weeks ago we came to Pet Mobility Rehab Center for an evaluation on Katie, our 14 year old Sheltie. She has had two cancerous tumors removed and 18 treatments of radiation on her right hip. Her back legs were getting weaker steadily since the last tumor was removed three years ago. She also suffered a stroke six months ago, which left her too weak to walk and immobile.
We watched Evening Magazine one night when they showed an episode on Iko and Pet Mobility Rehab Center. We were so impressed we made an appointment. I know you were skeptical whether it would benefit Katie. It has been almost eight weeks ago and we are writing a very joyous thank you.

Katie’s cart has not only given her mobility, it has saved us from having to carry her everywhere. She has slowly developed muscles again and can keep the cart on for extended periods. But the greatest gift the cart has done is given Katie her life back. All our lives have returned to a more normal pattern with her new found independence. Katie’s attitude has remarkably improved. She is happy and alert now. Our friends have even witnessed the difference in her smiley face!

When Katie is on a mission she can power over almost anything, including running over our 130 pound Akita’s legs. She has truly exceeded our expectations and we feel the cart is worth every penny and more.

Thank you so very much!!!

Andi

Two Wheel Carts,Wheelchairs for dogs   “Even Andi’s tail is happier. Since she first got sick 6 years ago, she didn’t wag her tail. It wags like wild in her cart!” - Colleen Blakey

Buddy

Two Wheel Carts, pet dogs,Canine Carts   “Thank you for liberating me. I checked out the whole house, chased and snipped at Jake, when I play with toys I get a better grip, I went through the toy box for the first time, rolled under Maggie, followed mom from room to room to room, chased and barked at the dogs next door, had lots of visitors,… and relaxed!” Love, Buddy

Rowena

Handicapped pets,Canine carts   “Rowena was born in my house and enjoyed good health until a few months ago when a gradual paralysis overcame her hind legs. Her handicap did not change the devotion that she shares with her brother Benjamin. I knew that a cart would give her the mobility to continue exploring her environment and interacting with other rabbits. In turn, they have accepted her special need and relaxed their established social rules. They sniff her and the cart, mark it with their chins and rarely challenge her. If anything, Rowena’s cart has widened her horizon as well as those around her.” - Irene Findley

  Hello,
Mom is very excited about my picture being on the Pet MRC website. I don’t know why she thinks it’s so cool though, because I already know I’m cute and running through water is old news for me. But if my picture inspires other people to buy a mobility cart for their pet, then I’m glad. Next week is my 11th birthday and soon I’ll reach the point at which I’ve spent half my life in a Pet MRC. I sure have a great life and I’d hate to miss out on even a moment of it!

My latest adventure is guarding (and chasing) the 3 chickens in my backyard. Mom won’t let them out of their big pen, but when she’s not looking the rooster, Zorba, and I play a game – Zorba sticks his head outside the pen and I snap at it. Darn, he always pulls his head back just in the nick of time! We both have a lot of fun and play the game for hours every day. I make sure the raccoons or squirrels don’t bother the chickens and every once in awhile Mom cooks me an egg; it’s a pretty sweet deal!
Love, Iko

Thank you so much. You are a great company and Iko leads a happy life with the help of her cart. - Anne Forrestal
